9 papers down and only one more to go next tuesday.
Thanks all for your prayers and encouragement. The storm is almost over, and its almost time to start picking up the pieces.
Since the last paper's MCQ, theres not much to study, so I went to visit the new Yishun Library at Northpoint on my way home.
It was pretty packed today because its opening day but still, the ambience was rather good, though a little noisy.
The layout of the library leaves much to be desired however. having only one entrance and occupying the highest floor of the mall, it was quite crowded with little room for manoeuvouring around. Subsequently I nearly crashed into quite a number of (quite chio) girls as I flitted between the shelves. Its a little too close for comfort, but at least its better than the old library.
However as the library had only one entrance, visitors had to travel all the way to the end of the library to reach the fiction section. And one reason why it was so noisy was perhaps because the reading areas and childrens corner and reception and borrowing area were all situated in the same area next to the entrance. So a lot of noise and traffic (you know how irritating small kids can be in a library)
I borrowed two books which I will only read after my last paper: The Children of Hurin by JRR Tolkien, and Girls gone Mild by Wendy Shalit. The latter promises to be quite an interesting read, as the author claims that girls in our modern world actually desire to live their own lives and not conform to the media and culture stereotypes of bikini clad skinny girls with bad attitude and need for sexual liberation.
Yishun library promses to be a good place to chill and soak up a good read, but not really good for studying because of the limited tables. However the slightly cramped spaces do provide a perfect excuse for bumping into (pretty, chio) girls, which will definitely keep your day interesting. Just be careful not to stare too much:P
By the way, I wonder why there are disproportionately more girls than guys in libraries these days? You will hardly see any guy just going there to pick up a good book. Mostly its for studying.
Good luck with the girls, guys
